About Ultimate Automotive

Previous owners, Darryl and Jodie, returned from a REPCO Authorised Service National Conference in New Zealand somewhat humbled to be awarded with the ‘Peter Webb SPIRIT of RAS Award.  This award is given to honour outstanding support provided to other businesses owners within the RAS network to help them succeed….whether it be training, providing support and mentoring.  Anyone who knows Darryl is likely to also be aware that he is extremely passionate about improving our industry and helping his fellow peers in whatever way he can.  Jodie too was recognised,  for the role she has played with the Women in RAS, something Jodie is also extremely passionate about.  We were shocked and delighted to be acknowledged by our peers and so very thankful to our wonderful team at Ultimate Automotive as without them we couldn’t do what we do.

You might think that with vehicles getting smarter and more technologically advanced that the art of automotive diagnostics would be less important as vehicles become more and more capable of self monitoring and diagnostics themselves, but this is not always the case... Recently, we had the pleasure of assisting a first-time customer with their Mazda, which had been to another repairer THREE times for an O2 sensor issue. With our expertise, top-notch equipment, and proven procedures, we quickly identified that the oxygen sensor itself was working perfectly and the circuit was intact. So, what was the real culprit?  Too much oxygen in the system! The oxygen sensor was in fact doing its job correctly, and we diagnosed and fixed the actual root cause of the problem rather than replacing the sensor, which would have only resulted in the fault code being repeated.  This experience highlights an important lesson: just because you get an O2 sensor fault code doesn't necessarily mean it's the sensor itself. Throwing parts at the problem won't solve it. We take pride in being a professional business that focuses on delivering real solutions, not unnecessary repairs. Not only did we fix the car, but we also provided proof of the fault and its resolution. This is the standard we uphold at Ultimate Automotive, and it's what every professional workshop should strive for. Advanced Diagnostics - It's all about the right approach

Ultimate Automotive are passionate about all things automotive and they are not afraid to share that passion with the next generation of automotive technicians... Automotive technology is constantly evolving at a rapid rate meaning technicians need to regularly update their mechanical knowledge to keep pace. In a pilot initiative the owners of two Repco Authorised Service centres, Ultimate Automotive in Gympie and Marjac Automotive in Maroochydore have come up with the Apprentice Development Class for apprentices from across the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay Region. The owners of the two Repco Authorised Service centres are very keen to ensure that their apprentices are the best trained in the industry and generously give their time to help these aspiring youngsters develop their skills (along with the passion for all things automotive both share) in a program designed to give their apprentices the edge in the workshop. Our inaugural REPCO Authorised Service Apprentice Development class was with the guru himself, Darryl, sharing his skills and experience with Fuel System Diagnostics with the younger technicians. Lets hope the future automotive technicians are as passionate about doing the job well as Darryl and Mark are. This is a great initiative driven by two very experienced mechanics keen to ensure that their Apprentices are the best trained in the industry and another great reason to be a Repco Authorised Service Apprentice. Huge thanks to Darryl for todays session and we’ll done to the all the apprentices who attended. Keep an eye out for Session 2 coming soon.

Staying ahead of the rest

 A Timely Warning from Joey Meet Joey, Chief Meeter & greeter on the Ultimate Automotive Team and representative for pets & wildlife. Joey would just like to remind you all that the stopping power of your vehicle is not only vital to keeping you and your family safe on the roads but other road users as well, including pedestrians and wildlife. Brakes, shock absorbers and tyres are all crucial elements in determining just how well you can stop in an emergency situation and you should have them checked regularly to be on the safe side. Regular car service with a good mechanic helps alert you to problems you may not be aware of and car service at Ultimate Automotive includes a 65 Point Vehicle inspection to give you peace of mind. Another Joey supported this statement when it came in for a little visit - this cute little critter is named Rosie. Her mother and other types of wildlife or pets can sometimes stray too close to roads and sadly there are often casualties. Looking after your shock absorbers, brakes and tyres gives you more control over your vehicle in tricky situations and means that if it does come down to it you will have more chance of being able to stop in time or avoid a collision. Recently we had a client referred to us from another business, as we have the only equipment in town to properly test shock absorbers - The Safe-T-Stop. We tested his shockers and also the brakes and found a 90% brake imbalance on front. Better to find out here than in accident! It was a cheap fix and kept him & his family safe. There is nothing else like our Safe T Stop machine in town. So if you want to help protect all road users, come into our Gympie workshop and we will happily test your brakes and shock absorbers for you today. We can also advise you if your tyres need attention and offer wheel alignment and balancing to ensure you are driving straight and stopping true. It makes sense to have your car serviced by a mechanic with the skills and equipment to do the job right.
